Grace is from God, and since God created us humans, His grace has always accompanied us. Counting God’s grace, many brothers and sisters may say that God has cured their sickness, that God guarantees their family peace, or that God makes their family happy and everything go smoothly, etc. These are God’s graces, and can only bring enjoyment to our flesh, yet they are not that beneficial to our life. What is of the greatest benefit to our life is, which is just the greatest grace that God bestows upon us. As long as we listen to God’s words, we will receive God’s grace and blessings and live under His care and protection.
When Adam and Eve obeyed God’s words, they received God’s grace and blessings.
After God created our ancestors Adam and Eve, He settled them in the Garden of Eden, and told them: “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). After listening to God’s words, Adam and Eve acted accordingly: They only ate the fruit from other trees, not from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Hence, they were blessed by God. They managed the plants and animals within the garden, loved each other, and lived peacefully and happily together. Then one day, the serpent came to tempt them to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and because of their lack of discernment, they fell for Satan’s crafty scheme, defied God’s words, and ate the fruit, which God had instructed them not to eat. As a result, they were driven out of the Garden of Eden and thereafter, lived a painful life of sweating and laboring to provide for their family—they lost God’s grace and blessings. This was the result of their defying God’s words.
In the Old Testament era, when people kept God’s laws and commandments, they received God’s grace and blessings.
The mankind of the age of the Old Testament didn’t know how to live, soGod proclaimed laws and commandments to tell them how to live, how to worship God, what kind of people God blesses, what kind of people God curses, and what sin is. These words of Jehovah God were the needs of man and should be followed by man. When the Israelites acted in accordance with the laws, they received God’s grace and blessings: they lived peacefully together on earth, and had God with them and had His care and protection at all times. As it says in , “And keep the charge of Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself” (1Kings 2:3).
However, at the end of the Old Testament era, people were so deeply corrupted by Satan that they were unable to observe the laws. They began to make inferior offerings and sell cattle, sheep, and doves in the temple, turning it into a den of thieves, thereby doing the things that God loathed and detested. As a result of their betraying God’s laws and commandments, they all faced the danger of being convicted by the laws.
In the New Testament era, people who accepted the’ received God’s grace and blessings.
When the Lord Jesus was incarnated on earth, He brought the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, and preached the way of repentance, telling man that they should confess their sins and repent, love their enemies, be humble and patient, forgive others, love their neighbor as themselves, and so on. People who acted according to the Lord Jesus’ words received forgiveness of sins, no longer faced the danger of being punished by the law for committing sins, and lived under God’s grace and blessings. Whereas, those who refused to accept the way of repentance the Lord Jesus preached, they lost, still living a painful life of being bound by the laws.
From God’s previous work, we can know that God’s words are the greatest grace and blessings that God bestows upon man. As long as we follow the way of God and act in accordance with His words, we will live under His care and protection. The Lord Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). These words tell us that aside from food, more importantly, we shall live by God’s words, not leaving them. This is because only God’s word can be our life, and is the foundation of our existence.
In, we must accept God’s new utterances in order to receive God’s grace and blessings.
The Book of Revelation prophesies, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death” (Revelation 2:11). These words send us a message: When God appears and begins to work in the last days, He will speak again and bestow the word of life upon us. So, we must take heed to listen carefully, and once we find God’s new words, we must seek and investigate without delay. Only in this way can we be able to gain God’s salvation of the last days and to receive God’s grace and blessings.
