A group of innocent children aged five or six are happily painting their own homes. In front of them are colorful paintbrushes, but in the end the homes they painted only have one color—black, because that’s what they see.

I saw an environmental public service advertisement titled “Polluted Paintings”. In this advertisement: The teacher asks the children to paint “our home”. After listening, the children pick up the brush and begin to paint. After a while, the teacher frowns while squatting beside a child and watching the painting. Just as the name of this public service advertisement “polluted painting”, all the things painted by the children are black, the sky, the trees, the houses and so on.
After watching this public service advertisement, I was heavy-hearted and repressed, feeling sad for the children who are living in the polluted environment at such a young age. I was born in the 1980s. In my childhood, I enjoyed the unspoiled vegetables and fruits, saw the clear blue sky, drank water from crystal clear streams and breathed fresh air. What about the kids nowadays? They are eating food with a variety of chemical additives, drinking polluted water, and breathing the harmful air every day… With the improvement of the quality of , people’s living environment are supposed to be better and better. But everything is not what we imagine. We are more exposed to all kinds of pollution that science brings about. All we eat, drink, breathe, and use are harmful to our health.
Although the whole world is calling for environmental protection, and public welfare undertakings and advertisements are never stopped, the environment has been developing for the worse. The satellites display the landscape of our planet in front of us. Previously, the earth was full of blue oceans and green trees, while now it is a large yellow sphere. I believe countless people are asking: Why is the beautiful green earth we once had missing? Why does humans paint themselves into a corner? This realistic problem has always been plaguing everyone, but no one can find the real answer.
Later, I was fortunate enough to see such a passage in a spiritual book, “Besides using science to deceive man, using all the various findings and conclusions of science to deceive man, Satan also uses science as a means to carry out wanton destruction and exploitation of the living environment that was bestowed on man by God. It does this under the pretext that if man carries out scientific research, then man’s living environment will get better and better and man’s living standards will continually improve, and furthermore that scientific development is done to cater to man’s daily increasing material needs and continual need to raise their quality of life. If not for these reasons, then it asks what you are doing developing science at all. …In addition to man’s greedy search for fame and gain, they continually carry out scientific exploration and in-depth research, then ceaselessly they satisfy their own material needs and lusts; what then are the consequences for man? First of all there is no longer any ecological balance and, hand in hand with this, ’s bodies have all been tainted and damaged by this kind of environment, and various infectious diseases, plagues, and haze spread everywhere. This is a situation that man now has no control over…using this kind of method to continue living—are you able to recognize what the natural end of mankind will be? What will be the natural final result? (Ruination.) It will be ruination: approaching ruination one step at a time. Approaching ruination one step at a time!” (“God Himself, the Unique VI”).
It turned out that the reason why we live in such an environment is that Satan uses scientific development as a means to paralyze man, uses the pretext of science to corrupt and seduce man, and uses the material enjoyments and carnal desires to whet man’s appetites. Driven by the benefits, man becomes more and more greedy, seeking their own benefits at the cost of the environment we rely on for survival. As we have seen: blocks of high-rise buildings form into concrete jungles at the cost of cutting down trees, occupying land, and filling the lake. As a result, wind and sand are getting stronger and stronger, and dust storms continuously harm our body and mind. When passing by the factory, we are sick of the pungent smell. Plumes of smoke make the blue sky become dim. Wastewater from the factories is discharged into the land at will so that the crops cannot grow. Thus the crops have to rely on the fertilizers and pesticides developed from the scientific research to “nourish”. As a result, we become victims. After eating these poisonous foods, varieties of strange diseases never seen before come one after another, and our health become worse and worse. At the dinner table, I cannot tell which foods are not genetically modified food. It is a luxury to enjoy the original food. We do not understand the truth and cannot see through Satan’s evil substance and sinister intentions, so we live in the bondage of Satan, tortured and afflicted by it. Satan’s sinister intention is to devour and possess us humans in the end.
Look at those innocent children in the advertisement. At the age of five or six, their inner world should be colorful. But when they were born and opened their eyes, what they saw is such a gray-black earth and world. So when children start drawing their own homes, even with colorful paintbrushes in front of them, in their inner world just a black brush is enough. This is the sadness of us humans being corrupted and afflicted by Satan. If we continue to destroy our homeland in this way, then all mankind shall come to nought. In the face of such a situation, what should we do?
I continue to read that book, “Why has man found himself in his current environmental predicament? Is it because of man’s greed and destruction? If man ends this destruction, won’t the living environment gradually right itself? If God does nothing, if God no longer wishes to do anything for mankind—that is to say, He doesn’t want to intervene—the best method would be for mankind to stop this destruction and return things to how they were. Putting an end to all this destruction means to stop the plundering and devastation of the things God has created. This will allow the environment where man lives to gradually improve. Failure to do so will result in further destruction of the environment and it will only become more serious” (“God Himself, the Unique VII”).
From these words, I understand that God is responsible for the lives of all of us, that God created all things, managed all things, and set the laws and ways of life of all things. All that God has done is to create a stable home and living environment on the earth for mankind, so that we can thrive and reproduce under the supply and guidance of God, and continue to develop and move forward. And only when we put aside our greedy ambitions and desires and no longer wantonly destroy and spoil the ecological environment, will our home be restored to a harmonious beautiful picture where there is blue sky, green water, birds and flowers, and people are full of laughter…
