I’m an ordinary believer of the Church of . It is Almighty God’s word that has saved me, freed me from Satan’s bondage and removed my misunderstandings of God’s new work. In the past, according to my notions and imaginations, I held on to Matthew 24:23-24, “Then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” I clung to these words and didn’t at all understand their inner meaning. I was afraid that I would be deceived by false Christs, and that once I took the wrong path, I would harm the brothers and sisters, unable to give an account to the Lord in the future. So, when I heard that the brothers and sisters from the Church of Almighty God testified that the Lord Jesus has returned, I held on to my notions and imaginations arrogantly, and refused to listen, read, or accept. I thought I was utterly faithful to the Lord Jesus and had stood testimony for Him. Now I’m ashamed beyond words at the thought of it.
One day, my husband came back after studying elsewhere. He brought a book back, and said to me happily, “I’m telling you a piece of fantastic news: The Lord Jesus has come! This time when I went out, I met the brothers and sisters from the Church of Almighty God again. These years, the Church of Almighty God has been testifying that the Lord Jesus has returned and done a stage of new work. But we never come into direct contact with them. I thought that since I believe in the true God, and had been equipped with some truth over so many years of in the Lord, I might as well have a fellowship with them. In this period, I’ve debated with them many times, studied the Bible, and read Almighty God’s word. Now I’m certain that Almighty God is the . The Lord has really come back!”
After listening to my husband’s words, I became angry and said loudly, “Are you crazy? The Lord Jesus clearly warned us, ‘Then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect’ (Matthew 24:23-24). The Lord has long alerted us that false Christs would appear in the . So, we can’t believe any news preaching the Lord has come back. Why would you just not listen? You’re away for just several months, but you’ve come into contact with people from the Church of Almighty God. Now they are stealing sheep everywhere, and even many fervent old believers have been stolen. You’d better not read that book!”
My husband said, “We’ve been expecting the Lord to come every day. However, when you hear someone testify the Lord has come, you neither seek nor investigate, but condemn it blindly. Do you really welcome the Lord’s coming or not? You occupy yourself in guarding against false Christs’ deception all day long, but do you truly know how false Christs deceive people? If you don’t have ment of false Christs, will you condemn the true Christ’s arrival as the deception of a false one? If so, won’t you become one who blasphemes the and resists Christ? And won’t your faith be in vain? Have you thought about the serious consequence?”
My husband’s words rendered me speechless. These years, I’ve been wrapped up in guarding against false Christs’ deception, but I never know how they deceive people exactly or how to them. Today, the prophecies on the Lord Jesus’ coming have been fulfilled one after the other, and the Lord is supposed to have returned. I thought all the news preaching the Lord has returned deceptive and refused it blindly. If I condemn the true Christ’s coming as a false Christ’s deception, I will be actually committing the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. This sin can’t be forgiven in both this world and the hereafter…. At that thought, I couldn’t help becoming nervous. But I was still a little unconvinced and asked, “So how do you think we can guard against false Christs and welcome the true Christ?”
My husband said, “To guard against false Christs and welcome the true One, we should take the initiative to know the of ing the true Christ from false Christs and the of God’s work. Only if we master these of truth will we not be deceived by false Christs and be able to welcome the true Christ.”
Hearing my husband’s fellowship, I shook my head, saying, “We’re the leading sheep of the church. So many brothers and sisters’ is in our hands. So, we should be responsible for their life. It’s easy for you to say that, but could you tell me how to discern the true Christ from false ones, and what the principles of God’s work are?”
My husband said patiently, “Just because we’re supposed to be responsible for the brothers and sisters’ life, we should seek and investigate it with fear of God rather than not listen, read, or accept. In this period, through fellowshiping with the brothers and sisters of the Church of Almighty God, I understand the truth concerning discerning the true Christ from false Christs and know the principles of God’s work. Actually, the Lord Jesus said, ‘Then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect’ (Matthew 24:23-24). In these two verses, the Lord Jesus clearly told us ‘For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders.’ This indicates that the means of false Christs’ deception is to show great signs and wonders. That is to say, in the , false Christs deceive people mainly by displaying great signs and wonders. This is the means how false Christs fool people. From that, we can see that false Christs can’t express the truth and don’t possess the substance of Christ, nor can they do God’s work. Thus, false Christs can only deceive man by performing miracles so as to disturb God’s work. The Lord Jesus’ purpose of saying these words is for us to have discernment of false Christs, not to condemn it blindly on hearing someone say the Lord has come. In that case, we will run counter to the original intention of His words. As for the truth in this aspect, let’s see what Almighty God speaks about it.” Then, my husband opened that book and read, “‘If, during the present day, there is to emerge a person who is able to display signs and wonders, and can cast out demons, and heal, and perform many miracles, and if this person claims that they are the coming of Jesus, then this would be the counterfeit of evil spirits, and their imitation of Jesus. Remember this! God does not repeat the same work. Jesus’ stage of work has already been completed, and God will never again undertake that stage of work. … In the conceptions of man, God must always display signs and wonders, must always heal and cast out demons, and must always be just like Jesus, yet this time God is not like that at all. If, during the , God still displayed signs and wonders, and still cast out demons and healed—if He did exactly the same as Jesus—then God would be repeating the same work, and the work of Jesus would have no significance or value’ (“Knowing Today” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). ‘The Holy Spirit works in accordance with the age, not just at will or according to set rules. The age has changed, and a new age must bring with it new work. This is true of every stage of work, and so His work is never repeated. In the Age of Grace, Jesus did much of that work, such as healing sickness, casting out demons, laying His hands upon man to pray for man, and blessing man. However, to continue to do so would serve no purpose in the present day’ (“The Mystery of the Incarnation (4)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). From Almighty God’s words, we know that God’s work is always new and never old, which is also a principle of His work. He doesn’t repeat His work, and His work is not in accord with man’s notions. For example, in the Age of Law of the Old Testament, God led man with laws and commandments, having man know sin, and man should enter the temple, keep the laws, and observe the Sabbath when they worship God. In the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus brought the Age of Grace and ended the Age of Law, did the redemptive work of crucifixion. He forgave man’s sin by the salvation on the cross, and brought them new practices, making them confess and repent, forbear and be patient, forgive and love each other, and so on. Man is forgiven of their sin because of the Lord’s abundant grace. The Lord Jesus’ work has achieved its results. If when the Lord Jesus comes in the , He continued to heal, drive out demons, and show signs as our lovable Savior, such work would be meaningless. Today, while we live in sin and have no path to tread on, Almighty God brings the Age of Kingdom and ends the Age of Grace. He expresses the truth, and does the work of judgment, purification, and transformation of man with the word. This fulfills the very prophecy in Revelation 2:7, ‘He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches.’ He brings us the way of change to get rid of our sinful nature, and allows us to walk out of Satan’s domain and be saved. This is what false Christs can never imitate. And we see God’s almightiness and wisdom all the more.” My husband’s fellowship was well-founded, leaving me deeply astounded …
