Each Marriage Is Arranged by God

By Wang Xiaoyue

At the age of 22, Jinxi longed for a beautiful future, hoping to meet a boy who could send her a pulse racing. If it was realized, she would marry him without the slightest hesitation and never regret. This thought was buried in her heart all the time.

Marriage Is Arranged by God

One day, Jinxi’s mother, Wang Lan, said to her: “I see your Auntie Huang’s humanity is great, so I think her son should be not bad either though I do not know much about him. A girl should marry a guileless man and live a steady life. Now, you have reached the age of marriage. You should consider it seriously.” Jinxi nodded her head, without answering her mother, but her heart was a little disturbed. She thought she had not yet met the boy who could made her feel thud. How could she readily get married? Seeing Jinxi was in silence, Wang Lan said nothing and made no mention of that again from then on. Several months passed by. It was in a cold winter that, at the introduction of her cousin, Jinxi met the boy Xiaojun who touched her heart. They fell in love at first sight, and soon they were passionately in love. Later, Jinxi gave up her job and selected to work near Xiaojun’s home.

However, soon the cruel fact confronted Jinxi. Xiaojun’s mother was not satisfied with Jinxi. Because in her eyes her son was tall, handsome, and clever, and he should marry someone who was suitable for him, yet Jinxi had a plain face, and was not outstanding or glib. How could such a girl please Xiaojun’s mother? But Xiaojun insisted on being with Jinxi, asking his mother to give Jinxi two chances. His mother consented. However, Jinxi disappointed Xiaojun’s mother due to her introversion. Later, Xiaojun and his mother often fought about Jinxi. Eventually, this beautiful first love ended. Jinxi was sad about this for a long time.

It was a wheat harvest season. A ray of sunlight shone down on Jinxi’s house. Wang Lan spoke of Auntie Huang’s son again while she was chatting with Jinxi. She said: “I have talked to your Auntie Huang. Since her son and his girlfriend have broken up, and so have you and Ye Xiaojun, we want you and her son to make a date to meet. If you do not like him, I will not force you, for this is not something to be forced.” Hence, Jinxi and Auntie Huang’s son, Li Ming, made an arrangement to meet. That was a sunny day. At the time when Jinxi entered into the house and saw Li Ming, she was really calm, without the strong feeling that she had when she met Ye Xiaojun, but she was not disgusted with him at their first meeting. Later, during her interaction with Li Ming, she felt that he was not bad and was someone who could be trusted. But in the bottom of Jinxi’s heart, she had no special feeling for him. In normal times, they just exchanged texts and seldom met. The life was unexceptional, which made Jinxi feel they were about to part. Until one day, Li Ming suddenly sent a text message to her, which said: “I miss you.” Instantly Jinxi’s heart was touched and melted. In this way, Li Ming entered Jinxi’s life quietly. One year later, they walked down the aisle.

Afterward, Jinxi’s mother-in-law passed on the gospel of God to her. When Jinxi thought back on the past, she was overcome with emotion. She saw the words of God: “One encounters many people in one’s life, but no one knows who will become one’s partner in marriage. Though everyone has their own ideas and personal stances on the subject of marriage, no one can foresee who will finally become their true other half, and one’s own notions count for little. After meeting a person you like, you can pursue that person; but whether he or she is interested in you, whether he or she is able to become your partner, is not yours to decide. The object of your affections is not necessarily the person with whom you will be able to share your life; and meanwhile someone you never expected quietly enters your life and becomes your partner, becomes the most important element in your fate, your other half, to whom your fate is inextricably bound. And so, though there are millions of marriages in the world, every one is different: How many marriages are unsatisfactory, how many are happy; how many span East and West, how many North and South; how many are perfect matches, how many are of equal rank; how many are happy and harmonious, how many painful and sorrowful; how many are the envy of others, how many are misunderstood and frowned upon; how many are full of joy, how many are awash of tears and cause despair…. In these myriad marriages, humans reveal loyalty and lifelong commitment toward marriage, or love, attachment, and inseparability, or resignation and incomprehension, or betrayal of it, even hatred. Whether marriage itself brings happiness or pain, everyone’s mission in marriage is predestined by the Creator and will not change; everyone must fulfill it. And the individual fate that lies behind every marriage is unchanging; it was determined long in advance by the Creator” (“God Himself, the Unique III”) After Jinxi read God’s words, she understood: Everyone’s marriage is held in God’s hands, but not decided by ourselves, and what we will go through in life is predestined long ago by God. Jinxi recalled that for love, she gave up the work that she liked and insisted to be with Ye Xiaojun regardless of how others saw her. But in the end they still parted from each other. Although, getting along with Li Ming did not make her feel loved, and they even reached the point where they nearly parted. Nevertheless, they actually came together and became lifetime partners. Thinking about this, Jinxi believed more firmly that everyone’s fate is already predestined by God.

She thanked God for arranging such a family for her, and she knew that man has no choice about marriage. On the surface, Li Ming was inferior to Ye Xiaojun in every aspect. His family conditions were average, and his appearance was ordinary too. But he was honest and considerate to Jinxi. In addition, it was just in such a family that she could accept God’s work of the last days and believe in God properly. She knew all of this is God’s grace and God’s predestination. She was thankful that God arranged such a marriage for her, allowing her to meet a reliable and guileless husband and live a peaceful, happy and safe life in this warm family. She was really grateful to God’s sovereignty, willing to believe in God and worship God properly in the following days and determined to keep walking on the path of believing in God.
