In the world where we are living, there are full of various temptations. Thereby, we are often tempted by all kinds of people and things, and even lose our direction and lose ourselves.
Sometimes, we are seduced by fame, fortune, and status. Once there is a chance to get ahead, we will do our utmost to fight for it. After gaining fame and fortune, we enjoy the glory that come with fame and fortune to the fullest extent. When losing fame and fortune, some people will rise up in their pursuits, while others will be mired in defeat from then on. Struggling for fame and fortune makes us exhausted physically and mentally.
Sometimes, we are seduced by the sensual pleasures. And unknowingly, we follow the evil trends of the world and stray further and further from God.
Sometimes, we are tempted by romance and sex. Failing to resist the temptation, some people walk on the path of violating the morals and ethics, a path of no return.
When we are attracted by fame and fortune and the glamorous world, and surrounded by all kinds of interests and temptations, our hearts become restless and are completely occupied with ambitions and desires. Gradually we lose our original sincere and kindhearted hearts, no longer innocent or kindhearted.
says: “Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Our heart is the temple of God. When it is occupied by outside things, we will stray far from God, and even forget God. What a sad thing that is!
God says: “Mankind, who left the supply of life from the Almighty, does not know why they exist, and yet fears death. There is no support, no help, but mankind is still reluctant to close their eyes, braving it all, drags out an ignoble existence in this world in bodies without the consciousness of souls” (“The Sighing of the Almighty”).
Without the supply of God, we will lose direction; without God’s guidance and leadership, we will fall into boundless darkness. All earthly glory, fame, fortune, status, and enjoyments appear to be good, but in fact, they are as transient as fleeting clouds. They belong neither to you nor to me. If we are able to possess them, that is God’s grace; if we fail to gain them or lose them, it is God’s predestination. However, in our entire life, if we only pursue these things, our life will be without any meaning, and we will also lose the value and meaning of life.
God says: “If one views life as an opportunity to experience the Creator’s sovereignty and come to know His authority, if one sees one’s life as a rare chance to perform one’s duty as a created human being and to fulfill one’s mission, then one will necessarily have the correct outlook on life, will live a life blessed and guided by the Creator, will walk in the light of the Creator, know the Creator’s sovereignty, come under His dominion, become a witness to His miraculous deeds and to His authority. Needless to say, such a person will necessarily be loved and accepted by the Creator” ( “God Himself, the Unique III”).
