Truly, truly, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life. I am that bread of life.
– John 6:47-48
- Thought on Today’s Verse:
Speaking of life, many people think life means being alive. However, the life of flesh is not the true life. Only if we gain the true life can we have. But how can we gain the true life? Let’s see the ’ words, “Truly, truly, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life. I am that bread of life” (John 6:47-48). Jesus’ words tell us that God is the source of life. So, the premise of gaining life is having faith in Jesus and coming into His presence.
Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). “I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). These two verses show us that life refers to the words of God. God’s words are the truth. The truth itself can be man’s life, and be man’s eternal life. This is the way of eternal life bestowed upon us by God. If we truly live out the reality of the truth, that is, God’s words truly become our life, we will never die. This fulfills the words in: “He that believes on the Son has everlasting life” (John 3:36).
