CGI Animated Short Film HD: “Spellbound Short Film” by Ying Wu & Lizzia Xu

This short video tells a story between two sisters. The top-performing elder sister has obtained kinds of honor and praise, while the younger sister’s performance is run-of-the-mill. She is jealous of her elder sister’s excellence and has hatred of her. The hatred has turned into small demons and they tip elder sister’s prize cups. Even all the small demons assemble and turn into a big demon. What’s worse, it is going to hurt elder sister. No matter how the younger sister try to prevent it, but to no avail. When the chips are down, younger sister changes the hatred in her mind into love. In the end, it’s love that makes the demon disappear.

On seeing that they embrace at the end of the film, I can’t help but be overcome with emotion. Many times, we’re very competitive like the younger sister. Looking at our friends who are better than us, we more or less feel jealous. Everyday jealousies add up, and then turn into hatred. We hate the excellent friends. Because of their existence, we have no chance to distinguish ourselves, no chance to make others think highly of us and earn their praise. Sometimes, we want to keep them at arm’s length; sometimes, we judge them behind their back; sometimes, we have rows or fights with them. Even we hate them to the extent that we want to hurt them. Just like the younger sister in the short film, the small demons in her mind, hatred and jealousy, will have dire consequences.

Actually, we don’t want that. But many times, we are inextricably trapped. What on earth is the matter? I read these words of God: “You always worry that others will stand out more than you, that others will become greater than you. Is this not being jealous of worth and ability?… as soon as it involves position, face, or reputation, everyone’s heart leaps in anticipation, and you always want to stand out, to become a big shot, to be a star, to be famous, to be glorified. … When you see someone stand out, you are jealous, feel hatred, complain, and feel it is unfair. ‘Why can’t I stand out? Why is it never me? Why is it always he who gets to stand out and it’s never my turn?’ There is some resentment. You try to repress the resentment, but you can’t, so you pray. After praying, you feel better for a little while, but later when you encounter the matter again you cannot overcome it. Is this not a case of immature stature? Is not a person’s falling into these conditions a trap? This is the bondage of a satanically corrupted nature.

From God’s words, we can understand the reason why we always have hatred and jealousy is that our minds are controlled by the Satan’s various poisons. Once it involves our face and status, the hatred and jealousy will occupy our hearts. To save our face and protect our positions, we’ll adopt certain methods to hurt others. Then, how can we put aside our hatred and jealousy? The Lord Jesus said: “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mat 22:39). The Lord’s word shows us the way. To put them aside,we should have true love, tolerance and forgiveness for others. No matter how excellent others are, we should treat them all properly with love, and draw on their strengths to advance us. Only in this way, can we be approved by the Lord.

Dear brothers and sisters, If you have any understanding or enlightenment from God, welcome to share with us via the online chat window at the bottom of the website or send an email to [email protected]. We sincerely hope we’ll grow spiritually through sharing with each other.
