The film “The Moment of Change” is a story of Christians desperately yearning for the return of the Lord. The protagonist Su Mingyue, a prestigious preacher in a house church, always believes in what Paul said, thinking: When the Lord descends and appears to us, the images of our flesh will be changed instantly and we will be lifted in the sky to meet with the Lord. At that time, we will be no longer controlled and bound by sin, being fully sanctified.
One day, when Su Mingyue preaches, someone raises a question: “Although our sins were forgiven, we haven’t extricated ourselves from the bondage and control of sin. Would the Lord really appear to us when He returns?” Su Mingyue answers the question with the viewpoint which she maintains that man will be transformed into holiness. But the director uses the portrayal of her countenance to show that she isn’t a person stubbornly holding on to his own viewpoint and that she is thinking about this question. After the meeting finishes, hearing someone come up with the similar questions again when she goes downstairs, Su Mingyue frowns as if in thought.
The night is far gone. Sitting in the living room, Su Mingyue cannot sleep. I don’t know whether she is pondering questions or waiting for her son and daughter in law to come back. At this point, the director doesn’t explain too much. However, the conversation between Su Mingyue and her son makes her inner thought and anxiety elevated again. She reminds her son that as a Christian, he shouldn’t be addicted to the mundane world and pursue carnal pleasure all day just like an unbeliever, and that if he continue to be depraved, then he won’t qualify to enter into the kingdom of heaven. However, her son says: “Sin as we often do like unbelievers, the Lord won’t abandon us. When He comes, He will instantly change our images, make us holy and rapture us into the kingdom of heaven.” Hearing this, Su Mingyue is rendered speechless with her frown growing deeper. She is pondering: Aren’t my son’s words what I often preach? How come what I say is contradictory? Shall we enter God’s kingdom when we follow the Lord’s way, confess sins and repent, and no longer sin? Or shall we still enter the kingdom when we live in sin because God is almighty so that when the Lord returns, the believers in Him will be instantly changed and raptured?
Su Mingyue realizes she frequently says when the Lord comes, He will change the images of believers and lift them up into the kingdom of heaven, then they becoming holy. But she has never thought that holding on to such a view, many people ignore the Lord’s words and requirements, don’t pay attention to practicing the Lord’s words and following the Lord’s commandments, and even become more and more debauched and distant from the Lord, thus leading a life of sin under the wing of grace.
The following days, Su Mingyue has been pondering and seeking whether the Lord, when returning, will change believers’ images in an instant and bring them into the kingdom of heaven. After praying and seeking, she receives the guidance of God. Accordingly, through the discussion between her and two co-workers, they decide to investigate the most prosperous church—the Church of Almighty God.
In fellowship, Su Mingyue finds the answer. It turns out that the fact is indeed different from the view she always holds on to. From her expression, we can see it is hard for her to accept the fact. However, delightfully, Su Mingyue can calm down to seek and listen. Through listening to the words expressed by Almighty God and the fellowship of the witnesses, she understands: We corrupt people, without undergoing the judgment of God’s words, still live in sin all the time, but desire to be transformed in a moment and be raptured into the kingdom of heaven, which is our imagination and will never come true. We believers in God should look upon the thing of being raptured into the kingdom of heaven according to God’s words rather than Paul’s. She also knows: God’s work is not supernatural. God fights with Satan in accordance with His original plan by becoming flesh. First, God expresses the truth to conquer man, and then cleanses and perfects man with the truth. When understanding the truth and knowing God, we humans will see through the fact of our corruption by Satan, and then begin to detest, forsake, and curse Satan. At last, we will thoroughly rebel against Satan and completely turn to God. Thus, God wrests mankind back from Satan’s hands. These people who are saved are God’s spoils from defeating Satan. Only by working like this can God really defeat and humiliate Satan. This is also the inside story of God’s work of judgment in. We believers in God must experience God’s work of judgment and cleansing and get rid of the bondage of sin before we can become God’s people and truly be saved by God.
The climax of the film is that many Christians ask for the book The Word Appears in the Flesh from the witnesses of the Church of Almighty God to read, which conveys the words of “God’s sheep can hear God’s voice.” In particular, a believer says: “It is no small feat to understand it is the voice of God. That is definitely not an ordinary person, that is definitely a wise virgin!” This scene replicates the theme of the film and makes the main point of being a wise virgin prominent. Su Mingyue in this film is exactly the representative of this kind of people. Every time after someone reads Almighty God’s words, there is a change in Su Mingyue’s expression. With her locked brows clearing little by little, she no longer holds on to the viewpoint of being transformed in a moment and being raptured into the kingdom of heaven. She says with tears: “We desire to be brought into the kingdom of heaven without experiencing God’s judgment and cleansing in the last days, isn’t that wishful thinking? I have now determined that Almighty God is the returned. I formally accept the work of Almighty God in the last days!”
The plots of the film go forward step by step. There are two close-ups of the book The Word Appears in the Flesh with millions of words in it. Compared with the prophecies of, the words in the book The Word Appears in the Flesh are even more clearly shown to be the voices of the returned Lord Jesus, which fulfills the words of the Bible: “However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (John 16: 13). “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written” (John 21: 25).
