5 Bible Verses About God’s Promises: Exploring the Promises of God in the Bible and Discovering Life’s Guidance and Hope

No matter what life brings, God’s promises are always our guidance and comfort. Read these 5 Bible verses about God’s promises, and feel the hope and comfort that God’s grace and promises bring to us. Let us embark together on a journey to pursue the light of hope that God has given us.

1. The Lord Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest(Matthew 11:28).

In this fast-paced and chaotic world, we often feel exhausted and burdened, our hearts weighed down by fatigue. The responsibilities and challenges of work, family, and relationships can leave us feeling completely worn out, as if we can’t handle it all. However, in moments like these, the promise of the Lord Jesus shines brightly, filling our hearts with comfort and hope. Just imagine, when you feel drained, helpless, and hopeless, envision the gentle and loving presence of the Lord Jesus standing before you, extending His hands to invite you by His side. His tender voice overflows with love and comfort, like a gentle breeze that revitalizes your weary soul, providing you with strength and solace. In Him, you can lay down all your worries and burdens, finding genuine rest. The promise of the Lord Jesus is genuine and trustworthy. He encourages us not to face life’s difficulties and challenges alone, but to entrust everything to Him, seeking His guidance and assistance. He willingly shares our burdens, carrying them on our behalf. In Him, we can discover true rest, inner peace, and abounding joy.

Therefore, let’s not be discouraged or worried by the hardships of life. Instead, let’s hold on to the promises that the Lord Jesus has given us and trust in His help and grace. When we feel weary and helpless, let’s remember to come before God and cry out to Him. He will grant us rest and comfort, and He will nourish and console our hearts with His love.

2. The Lord Jesus said, “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life(John 8:12).

In this unforgiving world, we often feel lost and confused, as if wandering in darkness. Challenges, disappointments, and pain in life seem like a thick cloud, obscuring any glimpse of hope. Yet, the beautiful promise of the Lord Jesus gives us courage and hope to move forward. The darkness of life sometimes isn’t just about dim surroundings but more about lost souls and troubled spirits. The words of the Lord Jesus aren’t just a promise, but also a calling and an invitation. When we find ourselves lost and hopeless in the darkness, hearing the Lord Jesus say, “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life,” it’s like a bright beam shining into our lives. This is the light of the Lord Jesus, illuminating the darkness in our hearts, dispelling our inner fears and worries, and bringing us hope and renewed strength. As long as we closely follow the footsteps of the Lord Jesus, we can find life’s direction and hope in His light. We can experience inner peace and joy, and bask in the sweetness of His presence, no longer feeling lost and alone.

Therefore, let us always remember the promise of the Lord Jesus, not being swayed by the hardships and challenges of life, but instead placing firm trust in Him and faithfully following His lead. Regardless of the trials and adversities we encounter, we can stand in the light of the Lord, navigating through darkness and journeying towards the radiant future that awaits us.

3. The Lord Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid(John 14:27).

The heartless world fills us with fear, worry, anxiety, and helplessness. We fear the uncertainty of the future, worry about life’s challenges, and even dread facing the pressures and difficulties of life. However, the Lord Jesus has given us a steadfast promise. He promises to give us a peace that is different from what the world offers, enabling us to find the courage and confidence to overcome sorrow and timidity and continue moving forward. God’s peace is unlike what the world can provide. Worldly peace is often built on external conditions, fleeting and superficial, unable to truly satisfy our inner longings. But God’s peace flows from deep within, allowing us to remain calm amidst turmoil and adversity, steadfastly facing life’s challenges. It transcends human understanding and worldly limitations, providing us with inner stability and fulfillment. When we feel anxious or timid, we can entrust our worries and concerns to God, seeking and relying on His peace and protection. In God’s peace, we can truly experience inner comfort and satisfaction, no longer being disturbed or influenced by external circumstances. Instead, we can boldly confront all life’s challenges and live a life brimming with hope and confidence. Just as God says, “Be quiet within Me, for I am your God, your only Redeemer. You must quiet your hearts at all times and live within Me; I am your rock, your buttress. Have no other mind, but rely on Me with your whole heart and I will certainly appear to you—I am your God!(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Utterances of Christ in the Beginning, Chapter 26).

Therefore, let’s set aside all worries and fears, wholeheartedly rely on God, and enjoy the peace He gives. He is our rock, our fortress; His promises are always dependable and His love remains unwavering.

4. The Lord Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come(John 16:12–13).

This passage represents the divine promise of the Lord Jesus to us, affirming that the Spirit of truth, who is the returned Lord Jesus, will speak many words to guide people into all truth. Some may be perplexed, asking, “Isn’t the Lord Jesus’ return intended to take us to heaven? Why does He continue to express more truths?” In reality, during the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus primarily carried out the work of redeeming humanity through His crucifixion, and did not unveil all truths for the salvation of humanity. Believing in the Lord grants us forgiveness of sins, enabling us to approach God in prayer and partake in His grace and blessings. However, the root of sin within us remains deeply entrenched, causing us to frequently sin and rebel against God. It is evident that we have not completely liberated ourselves from the bondage of sin nor fully received God’s salvation. Moreover, many mysteries and truths remain unknown to us, such as how humanity developed to this day, how Satan corrupted humanity, how God saved humanity, how individuals can break free from sin and attain purification, whom God saves and whom He eliminates, how God determines the outcomes of various kinds of people, how God destroys the evil world and ends Satan’s fate, how Christ’s kingdom is established on earth, and what the ultimate beautiful destiny of humanity is, among others—all of which are truths that we must understand to be saved and enter the kingdom of heaven. However, these truths were not revealed by God during the Age of Grace, hence the Lord Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” From this, we understand that during the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus did not lead people into all truth. However, upon His return in the last days, He will speak numerous words to unveil all the mysteries of God’s 6,000-year management plan for the salvation of mankind, guiding people into all truth and enabling them to completely break free from sin and attain purification to be brought into God’s kingdom. In the last days, what God brings forth is the work of the word, and He will use His words to accomplish everything and conclude all the work of His salvation of humanity. As the word of God says, “You will come to understand both the work done by Jesus, and the work of God today; you will understand and behold all of the truth, the life, and the way. In the stage of work done by Jesus, why did Jesus depart without doing the concluding work? Because the stage of Jesus’ work was not the work of conclusion. When He was nailed to the cross, His words also came to an end; after His crucifixion, His work completely finished. The current stage is different: Only after the words are spoken to the end and God’s entire work is concluded will His work have finished. During Jesus’ stage of work, there were many words that remained unsaid, or which were not fully articulated. Yet Jesus cared not what He did or did not say, for His ministry was not a ministry of words, and so after He was nailed to the cross, He departed. That stage of work was chiefly for the sake of the crucifixion, and is unlike the current stage. This current stage of work is principally for the sake of completion, of clearing up, and of bringing all work to a conclusion. If the words are not spoken to their very end, there will be no way of concluding this work, for in this stage of work all work is brought to an end and accomplished using words(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. The Vision of God’s Work (2)).

It is evident that in order to attain all truth and receive God’s salvation, we must accept and embrace all the truths expressed by the returned Lord Jesus. Only through this can we sever our ties with sin, achieve purification, and enter into God’s kingdom.

5. “Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:5).

In this dark and evil world, people live amidst sin and suffering, often feeling weary, distressed, confused, and helpless. However, as we examine this scripture, we discover a powerful promise—the salvation of God in the last days. During the Age of Grace, after the Lord Jesus completed His work of redemption, although all those who believe in Him have received forgiveness of their sins and can enjoy the peace and joy that comes with the forgiveness of sins, as well as many blessings and grace from God, people still continue to sin, living in a cycle of sinning, confessing, and sinning again. They have not yet broken free from sin to achieve holiness and are not qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, God has prepared the salvation of the last days for all those who believe in Him and have been kept by His power until this day. The salvation of God in the last days is the work of salvation the returned Lord carries out by expressing the truth, aiming to completely resolve our sins, enabling us to bid farewell to sin and suffering, and to be purified to enter the kingdom of God. As the word of God says, “Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering; He did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to become the sin offering and bear the sins of man, but it also required God to do even greater work to rid man completely of his satanically corrupted disposition. And so, now that man has been forgiven of his sins, God has returned to the flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment. This work has brought man into a higher realm. All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and they shall gain the truth, the way, and the life(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Preface).

We are currently in the final phase of the last days, and God’s promise has been fulfilled. The Lord Jesus has already returned and spoken numerous words, performing the work of judgment and purification, offering us the salvation of the last days.
