Introduction

The Stations of the Cross prayer is a deeply significant devotion in Christian tradition. By reliving each stage of Jesus Christ’s passion, believers can profoundly connect with His sacrifice and love, thereby strengthening their own faith. Typically, the Stations consist of fourteen steps, each representing a pivotal event in Jesus’ journey to the crucifixion. This sacred journey is not only a meditation on Jesus’ suffering and sacrifice but also a profound reflection on our own spiritual lives.

Station I: Jesus Is Condemned to Death

Jesus is condemned to death by Pontius Pilate. Although Pilate initially intended to release Jesus, he ultimately yielded to the pressure from the Jewish leaders and the crowd, sentencing Jesus to be crucified. Pilate symbolically washed his hands to show he did not want to be responsible, but this did not absolve him of his role in the unjust trial. This station reminds us that Jesus willingly accepted an unjust judgment to redeem humanity, even though He was innocent.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, may we, when faced with injustice and suffering, draw inspiration from Your patience and love. Help us to remain steadfast in our faith and to courageously move forward. Amen.

Station II: Jesus Takes Up His Cross

After being condemned to death, Jesus is led by the soldiers to the place of His execution. He is forced to carry the heavy cross and begins His journey towards His Passion. The weight of the cross symbolizes the burden of humanity’s sins and the suffering Jesus endures for us. Despite His physical weakness, Jesus takes up this cross, bearing the weight of our sins, and resolutely walks toward Calvary.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to bravely carry the crosses in our own lives. May we understand Your sacrifice and walk each day with love and faith. Amen.

Station III: Jesus Falls for the First Time

On His journey carrying the cross, Jesus stumbles and falls for the first time. This moment shows His immense pain and the heavy burden He bears, highlighting His normal humanity. This station reminds us that God, as the incarnated Son of man, is unable to escape the pains and trials of the flesh. This is a testament to His selfless love for us humans.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to rise again when we fall. May we learn from Your resilience and courage, finding hope even in the midst of our struggles. Amen.

Station IV: Jesus Meets His Mother

On the road, Jesus encounters His mother Mary. Seeing Jesus in such agony, Mary’s heart breaks, yet she remains steadfastly by His side. This station reminds us of the importance of familial support and companionship in times of suffering.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, grant us the love and understanding among family members, that we may support one another in times of difficulty. Amen.

Station V: Simon Helps Jesus Carry the Cross

As Jesus struggles along the road with the cross, exhausted, a man named Simon is compelled to assist Him in carrying the burden. Simon represents those who extend a helping hand in times of adversity, symbolizing God’s grace. Though initially reluctant, Simon’s heart is transformed through the act of aiding Jesus.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, grant us the courage to help others and the humility to accept help. May we move forward supported by each other. Amen.

Station VI: Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus

Veronica, a compassionate woman, uses a cloth to wipe the bloodied face of Jesus. Although this story lacks direct biblical basis, Veronica’s act of wiping Jesus’ face has become a significant theme in Christian art, imbued with profound symbolic meaning. It reflects people’s reverence for Jesus’ Passion and their devout faith.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach us to extend a helping hand to others in need, to change the world with love and kindness. Amen.

Station VII: Jesus Falls for the Second Time

Jesus falls for the second time, even weaker and in more intense pain. This station reminds us that Jesus’ path to the crucifixion is not an easy one, but filled with immense challenges and trials. Each fall is a tremendous test of His physical strength and resolve, yet He never abandons His mission.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, grant us the strength and conviction to persevere when faced with daunting trials and tribulations. Amen.

Station VIII: Jesus Comforts the Women of Jerusalem

On His way to Calvary, Jesus encounters women weeping for Him. He consoles them, urging them not to grieve for His suffering, as His sacrifice is for the redemption of humanity. This station illustrates the greatness of Jesus, who in His suffering still shows care for others. It also reminds us that even in adversity, we must maintain love and hope. Jesus’ words are not only a comfort to the women, but a teaching for all people.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to comfort and care for others even in our own suffering, spreading Your love. Amen.

Station IX: Jesus Falls for the Third Time

Jesus falls for the third time, nearly unable to stand, yet He persists because He knows His mission is not yet complete. This station demonstrates Jesus’ perseverance and determination, reminding us to maintain our faith and fulfill our mission even in the most challenging moments. Each time He falls and then rises again, it serves as an inspiration for our own faith.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, grant us the resolve to remain faithful and fulfill our mission even in the toughest times. Amen.

Station X: Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments

The soldiers strip Jesus of His clothes, a humiliating and torturous act. This station symbolizes Jesus’ total self-sacrifice, reminding us that even in the face of humiliation and suffering, we must remain steadfast in our faith. Jesus’ complete nakedness represents His utter vulnerability and total devotion to humanity.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to learn humility and dedication, so that we may spread Your love and grace throughout the world. Amen.

Station XI: Jesus Is Nailed to the Cross

Jesus is nailed to the cross, enduring immense pain and torment. He sacrifices Himself for the sins of humanity, and His blood cleanses us from sin. Every moment on the cross is a profound test of His body and soul, and a demonstration of His infinite love for us.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us remember Your sacrifice, strengthen our faith, and follow Your footsteps. Amen.

Station XII: Jesus Dies on the Cross

Jesus dies on the cross, completing the redemption of humanity. His sacrifice is profound, and His love is eternal. Before His death, He forgives those who harmed Him and entrusts His Spirit to the Father. This moment marks not only the end of suffering but also the beginning of salvation.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your tremendous sacrifice. May we always be grateful, testify to Your love, and closely follow Your footsteps. Amen.

Station XIII: Jesus’ Body Is Taken Down From the Cross

Jesus’ body is taken down from the cross and placed in the arms of His mother, Mary. Holding Jesus’ cold body, Mary is filled with sorrow and pain. This station reflects the deep bond between mother and son, reminding us of the grief and pain of losing loved ones. Mary’s anguish resonates with the pain of everyone who has lost a beloved.

Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, help us find comfort and hope in times of loss and sorrow, as we remember Your sacrifice for us. Amen.

Station XIV: Jesus Is Laid in the Tomb

Jesus’ body is placed in a new tomb. This station symbolizes both an end and a new beginning, foreshadowing Jesus’ resurrection. Entombed in a stone grave, sealed by a large stone, it seems like everything has ended, yet it marks the beginning of new life.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, may Your resurrection bring us new life and hope. Teach us to follow Your way every day. Amen.

Conclusion

Through these 14 Stations of the Cross prayers, we deeply experience Jesus’ pain and sacrifice, strengthening our faith and love for the Lord. May we constantly remember Jesus’ teachings and grace in our daily lives, walking on the path of righteousness and love. In every difficulty and challenge, may we find strength and inspiration from Jesus’ journey of Passion, and steadfastly continue forward. May the love of the Lord always be with us. Amen.

Finally, we’d like to share a passage of God’s words with everyone. Let’s experience God’s love and salvation for us.

God says, “Without Jesus’ redemption, mankind would forever have lived in sin and become the progeny of sin, the descendants of demons. Continuing thus, the whole world would have become the land where Satan dwells, the place of its habitation. The work of redemption, however, required showing mercy and lovingkindness toward mankind; only by such means could mankind receive forgiveness and ultimately win the right to be made complete and fully gained by God. Without this stage of work, the six-thousand-year management plan would not have been able to progress. If Jesus had not been crucified, if He had only healed the sick and exorcised demons, then people could not have been completely forgiven of their sins. In the three and a half years that Jesus spent doing His work on earth, He completed only half of His work of redemption; then, by being nailed to the cross and becoming the likeness of sinful flesh, by being handed over to the evil one, He completed the work of crucifixion and mastered the destiny of mankind. Only after He was delivered into Satan’s hands did He redeem mankind. For thirty-three and a half years He suffered on earth, being ridiculed, slandered, and forsaken, even to the point where He had no place to lay His head, no place of rest, and He was later crucified, with His whole being—a holy and innocent body—nailed to the cross. He endured every kind of suffering there is. Those in power mocked and whipped Him, and the soldiers even spat in His face; yet He remained silent and endured until the end, submitting unconditionally to the point of death, whereupon He redeemed all of humanity. Only then was He permitted to rest. The work that Jesus did represents only the Age of Grace; it does not represent the Age of Law, nor is it a substitute for the work of the last days. This is the essence of Jesus’ work in the Age of Grace, the second age that mankind has passed through—the Age of Redemption(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. The True Story Behind the Work of the Age of Redemption).
