7 Spiritual Warfare Prayers: Protection for the Journey of Life

On the journey of faith, we often encounter various temptations, hardships, and challenges. Satan is always looking for opportunities to test our faith, attempting to lure us away from the true way and make us abandon our beliefs. How can we triumph over Satan’s schemes and stand testimony in the spiritual battle? Read the following verses and prayers, and they can help us triumph in spiritual warfare.

7 Spiritual Warfare Prayers: Protection for the Journey of Life

1. “Watch you, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).

In this present era, which is considered the very end of the last days, the world is becoming increasingly dark and evil. Various disasters have befallen us, and the entire world is filled with challenges, temptations, and dangers. As Christians, we often find ourselves in spiritual warfare. This passage reminds us that in the midst of this spiritual battle, the devil is constantly searching for our weaknesses. Therefore, we must not be complacent; instead, we should remain vigilant at all times. We should not succumb to the temptations of sin and the world but stand firm in the true way. Only by actively seeking and relying on God’s word to guide our lives, maintaining steadfast faith in God, can we overcome all temptations and dangers with God’s help and protection. This way, we can walk the victorious path in the spiritual battle. If we do not actively rely on God and seek His word in the spiritual battle, we may fall into Satan’s temptations and be taken captive by Satan. As God’s word says, “The last days have arrived and countries across the world are in turmoil. There is political disarray, there are famines, pestilences, floods, and droughts appearing everywhere. There is catastrophe in the world of man; Heaven has also sent down disaster. These are signs of the last days. But to people, it seems like a world of gaiety and splendor; it is becoming more and more so, people’s hearts are all drawn to it, and many people are entrapped and unable to extricate themselves from it; great numbers will be beguiled by those who engage in trickery and sorcery. If you do not strive for progress, are without ideals, and have not rooted yourself in the true way, you will be swept away by the swelling tides of sin(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Practice (2)).

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, we thank You for this precious time we have to come before you in prayer. In this spiritual battlefield, please grant us alert minds and unwavering faith. May we be vigilant against the schemes of the devil and not be misled by the world’s evil. Strengthen our ability to stand firm in the truth, making your word our guide and pillar in life. Grant us courage and a resilient spirit to resist the forces trying to lure us away from You. May we, under the protection of Your grace and power, stand firm without wavering, without retreating, overcome all temptations and dangers, and walk the victorious path in the spiritual journey. Amen.

2. “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).

In life’s journey, we often encounter various challenges and difficulties, almost like wrestling with an unseen opponent – this is what we call spiritual warfare. However, in this spiritual battle, we’re not fighting alone. We have the help and support of a loving God. He is our rock, our refuge, the strongest support, and the wellspring of strength in our spiritual struggles. He’s our ultimate reliance and assistance. Even though we face tough obstacles, as long as we genuinely lean on God, we can receive His help, enabling us to face spiritual battles without fear or shrinking back. In doing so, we will achieve more than enough victory in all aspects of our lives. As God says, “Be quiet within Me, for I am your God, your only Redeemer. You must quiet your hearts at all times and live within Me; I am your rock, your buttress. Have no other mind, but rely on Me with your whole heart and I will certainly appear to you—I am your God! Ah, those doubters! They surely cannot stand firm and they will gain nothing(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Utterances of Christ in the Beginning, Chapter 26).

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, in this dark and evil world, filled with various temptations and challenges, we often find ourselves in the midst of spiritual warfare. However, we take solace in knowing that we are not alone in this battle, as You are our refuge and reliance. By placing our trust in You, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. In times of difficulty and challenge, we humbly ask for unwavering faith. May You grant us the ability to deeply feel the power of Your presence, so that we may not be swayed by the enemy’s cunning schemes. Fill us with courage to face every challenge boldly, and help us remain steadfast on the path of trust in You until we achieve ultimate victory. Amen!

3. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

This passage not only serves as a cautionary message but also brings comfort. Spiritual warfare isn’t a physical conflict but a spiritual challenge that requires us to stay vigilant at all times. In this battle, our adversaries aren’t visible enemies; they are spiritual forces attempting to undermine our faith and weaken our resolve. Therefore, we need to be always watchful, stay alert, and be ready to confront the cunning schemes of the devil. However, there’s no need to fear because, in spiritual battles, we’re not fighting alone – God is with us. He is our refuge, providing wisdom and strength, allowing us to resist the attacks of the roaring lion. By relying on God, maintaining a continual relationship with Him, and wielding His word as our weapon, we can stand strong in spiritual warfare. Just as God says, “You should know these are the last days. The devil Satan, like a roaring lion, stalks abroad, searching for people to devour. All manner of plagues now break out, and there are many of every sort of evil spirit. Only I am the true God; only I am your refuge. Now you can do nothing but hide in My secret place, only within Me, and disasters will not befall you, and no calamity will come near your tent(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Utterances of Christ in the Beginning, Chapter 28).

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, today we come before Your throne, lifting our prayers about the roaring lion, the devil who constantly seeks to erode our faith, and about the spiritual battle we face. We acknowledge our weaknesses and recognize our need for Your strength. You alone are our refuge and our source of power. May You open our minds, keep us vigilant constantly, able to discern truth from falsehood, so that we will not be deceived by the enemy’s tricks. May we stay far from the cunning schemes of Satan and emerge victorious in spiritual battles. Amen!

4. “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ(2 Corinthians 10:4–5).

This passage reminds us that spiritual warfare we face aren’t won with mere physical strength; it’s the power of God that prevails. Our weapons are not of flesh and blood but come from God’s word. The power of God’s word can break through the strongholds of Satan, defeating various obstacles that hinder people from knowing God and humbling themselves. In spiritual battlefields, we often encounter difficulties, temptations, and opposition, but relying on God’s mighty power, we can use spiritual weapons – the words of Christ – to dismantle the schemes of the enemy. By depending on the strength of Christ’s words, and making God’s word a guide in our life journey, we can emerge victorious in spiritual warfare.

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, thank You for providing us with spiritual armor – Your word – enabling us to triumph in spiritual warfare. Grant us wisdom to discern the enemy’s schemes, strengthen our faith, and keep our hearts pure. Lord, may the power of Your word work within us, enabling us to overcome any obstacles that hinder our closeness with You. Guide us so that all our thoughts and desires submit to the sovereignty of Christ. Amen!

5. “A prudent man foresees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished” (Proverbs 22:3).

In the journey of spiritual warfare, the prudent individuals demonstrate a remarkable discernment. They possess a keen insight into the spiritual realm, able to recognize and steer clear of temptations and dangers that could lead to spiritual harm. This ability is grounded in their understanding of God’s word and their obedience to His guidance. It enables prudent individuals to stay vigilant in spiritual warfare, avoiding traps that may cause spiritual injury. On the contrary, foolish individuals exhibit ignorance in the spiritual battle. They recklessly venture into places expressly forbidden by God, falling into the snares of sin. Ignoring God’s warnings, they are blinded by the temptations of the world, resulting in spiritual harm and distress. Therefore, in spiritual warfare, wisdom becomes our best weapon. By continually listening to God’s word and seeking His guidance, we can stay prudent, have discernment, steering clear of calamities and emerging as overcomers in spiritual battle.

Let’s pray together:

Lord, in this present era marked by evil, the journey of our lives often involves spiritual battles. Grant us prudent minds to constantly listen to Your words, rely on Your mighty power, and seek Your guidance on this spiritual journey. May we have the ability to distinguish right from wrong, stay alert to potential dangers, and progress continually in Your truth and wisdom. Keep us away from the paths of sin and shield us from situations that could harm our faith. Lord, may Your protection envelop us, ensuring our abundant victory in the spiritual battle. Amen!

6. “Why take to you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).

This passage describes the spiritual armor we need in the battles of the spirit—God’s word. This complete set of armor can not only withstand the attacks of the enemy during trials but is also the grace of God that can achieve everything and remain steadfast. When life brings difficulties, trials, and temptations, this spiritual armor ensures our ability to stand strong. It enables us to firmly rely on God’s truth and confront evil with righteousness. Depending on the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the words of God to repel the enemy’s attacks, we can stand firm at all times.

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, in the journey of life, we often encounter spiritual battles. In these battles, we humbly come before You, seeking Your help and protection. Grant us the complete spiritual armor—the truth. Let Your truth illuminate our minds, guide our steps, and enable us to firmly resist the temptations and lies of the enemy during challenging days, preventing us from getting lost in the world’s confusion. Help us continually rely on You, trusting that Your words will lead us in the right direction in the darkness. May we, in every spiritual battle, be equipped with this full armor and emerge victorious. Amen!

7. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).

This passage reveals the key to victory in spiritual warfare: prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. Throughout life’s journey, we often find ourselves in spiritual battles where Satan attempts to erode our hearts with various temptations, weaken our faith in God, and lure us away from the true way, tempting us to abandon our beliefs. However, this passage teaches us that on the spiritual battlefield, we can entrust our inner anxieties, worries, and struggles to God through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. This allows us to find a way to practice within His grace and strength. As we commune with God in this manner, the unexpected peace that God provides will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, allowing us to experience His peace and protection in every battle.

Let’s pray together:

Dear God, thank You for being with us at every step of our spiritual journey. We acknowledge that in this challenging and uncertain world, we need Your help and guidance. Grant us unwavering faith, enable us to entrust all worries, anxieties, and doubts to You through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. You are the source of our peace, the guardian of our hearts, our refuge, and strength. In the spiritual battle, may Your words be our powerful weapon, helping us to triumph abundantly in spiritual warfare. Amen!

Conclusion

Now let’s summarize the keys to triumph in spiritual warfare based on the insights shared above.

1. When faced with temptation, let’s find solace in God’s presence and promptly seek understanding of His will through prayer. Often, in the midst of temptation, confusion sets in, and we may not know how to respond. In these crucial moments, the first step is to come before God in prayer, seeking to comprehend His will, asking for His help. It’s through God’s guidance and illumination that we can grasp His intentions, see through the cunning schemes of Satan, and overcome the trials. As the scripture says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus(Philippians 4:6–7).

God says, “After God created mankind and granted them spirits, He enjoined them that if they did not call out to Him, then they would not be able to connect with His Spirit and, thus, the ‘satellite television’ from heaven would be impossible to receive on earth. When God is no longer in people’s spirits, there is an empty seat left for other things, and Satan thus seizes the opportunity to get in. When people contact God with their hearts, Satan immediately panics and rushes to escape. Through mankind’s cries, God gives them what they need, but He does not at first ‘reside’ within them. He simply gives them constant aid because of their cries, and from that internal strength people gain hardiness, so that Satan dares not come in to “play” at its will. So, if people continuously connect with God’s Spirit, Satan does not dare to come and cause disturbances(The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Interpretations of the Mysteries of “God’s Words to the Entire Universe”, Chapter 17).

2. Stay away from tempting places. There are certain entertainment venues in the world that we should steer clear of, because these places are where the devil plays with people. If we frequently visit these places, it becomes challenging to control ourselves; if we yield to reckless indulgence of the flesh, it may lead to actions that betray our families. The Bible says, “A prudent man foresees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished(Proverbs 22:3).

3. Uphold God’s word, steadfastly adhere to the truth, and remain loyal to God. The word of God serves as our sword to overcome the cunning schemes of Satan. When faced with temptation, we should view things according to God’s word, hold onto it, steadfastly obey the truth, and remain loyal to God. Just as Satan tempted Jesus, each time Jesus countered Satan’s schemes with the word of God, causing Satan to flee in defeat.

God says, “During the work of God’s abiding provision and support of man, He tells the entirety of His will and requirements to man, and shows His deeds, disposition, and what He has and is to man. The objective is to equip man with stature, and to allow man to gain various truths from God while following Him—truths that are the weapons given to man by God with which to fight Satan. Thus equipped, man must face God’s tests. God has many means and avenues for testing man, but every one of them requires the ‘cooperation’ of God’s enemy: Satan. … It may be said that whether or not man can be saved depends on whether he can overcome and defeat Satan, and whether or not he can gain freedom depends on whether he is able to lift up, on his own, the weapons given to him by God to overcome Satan’s bondage, making Satan completely abandon hope and leave him alone. If Satan abandons hope and relinquishes someone, this means that Satan will never again try to take this person from God, will never again accuse and disturb this person, will never again wantonly torture or attack them; only someone such as this will truly have been gained by God(The Word, Vol. 2. On Knowing God. God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself II).
