Could It Be That God Can Only Incarnate as a Male?

Question: We’ve been longing for the Lord to return for years now. When we heard you testifying that the Lord Jesus has returned as the incarnate Almighty God, and that He is expressing the truth and performing the work of judgment and chastisement, we decided we’d take the initiative and investigate the true way, in accordance with the Lord’s words. But when we discovered that God had incarnated as a woman this time around, we became dubious. The incarnation of the Lord Jesus all those years ago was male, and God’s gender is male, so the returned Lord should also be male. How could He possibly be female? We just can’t figure this out, so can you please explain it to us?

Answer: Thanks be to God! That you have been able to seek with an open heart in accordance with the Lord’s words shows that you yearn for righteousness. I used to have this very same notion, believing that because the Lord Jesus incarnated in male form, then when He returns He should also be in male form. But is this conclusion correct? Can God only become flesh in male form? Actually, that the Lord Jesus incarnated in male form does not mean that when He returns in the last days He must again be in male form to do His work. This is a notion, an imagining, that we human beings have come up with, with no basis in God’s words. First, let’s take a look at these verses from the Bible: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1–2). We can see from this that God is innately Spirit, without form, invisible, intangible, and without any division of gender. Only because God would become flesh to do His work to save man did He adopt the outer shell of a created being, and so He had a gender. For example, the incarnated Lord Jesus Christ took male form, but His essence remained that of God Himself. This gender is spoken of only in relation to the Lord Jesus’ flesh when He worked on earth, as when He resurrected from death and returned to the spirit realm, God returned to His original form, at which point there was no longer any division of gender.

Furthermore, Genesis 1:27 records, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” This verse tells us that God created men and women in His own image, and so male and female are equal before God. God can become flesh both in male form and in female form, and regardless of whether He incarnates as male or female, as long as the incarnated flesh is that of the Spirit of God, it is then Christ, it is God Himself, and it will always represent God. As for what gender God chooses specifically, this depends on the needs of God’s work and is up to God to decide—no human being has the right to interfere. If, because we see the Lord Jesus in the image of a man, we go by our imaginings and reasoning to delimit God to the image of a man, and say He cannot possibly be female, then are we not delimiting God? The Bible says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, said Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts(Isaiah 55:8–9). God’s wisdom is eternally higher than the wisdom of man, His deeds will always be unfathomable to us, and His work is always meaningful, no matter how He does it. Since God can incarnate into male form, does that then mean that He cannot incarnate into female form? We, as created beings, mustn’t delimit God, but should instead pray and seek more before Him, and choose to submit. This is the way wise people practice.

The Significance of God Incarnating in Female Form in the Last Days

Some people may perhaps ask that, since God can incarnate in male or female form, why doesn’t He continue in male form when He returns in the last days, but instead adopts a female image? Wouldn’t people accept Him more easily if He adopted a male image?

We know many people must be confused about this. But in fact, whether God incarnates in male or female form, He only ever does so to save man, it is what is needed by His management work, and it is always of extraordinary significance. Let’s read a couple passages of God’s words, and then we’ll understand. God says, “If God came into the flesh only as a male, people would define Him as male, as the God of men, and would never believe Him to be the God of women. Men would then hold that God is of the same gender as men, that God is the head of men—but what then of women? This is unfair; is it not preferential treatment? If this were the case, then all those whom God saved would be men like Him, and not one woman would be saved. When God created mankind, He created Adam and He created Eve. He did not only create Adam, but made both male and female in His image. God is not only the God of men—He is also the God of women.” “With God there is no distinction of gender. He does His work as He wishes, and in doing His work He is not subject to any restrictions, but is especially free. Yet every stage of work has its own practical significance. God became flesh twice, and it is self-evident that His incarnation during the last days is the final time. He has come to make known all His deeds. If in this stage He did not become flesh in order personally to do work for man to witness, man would forever cling to the notion that God is only male, not female.

We can see from God’s words that it is significant that God incarnated once in male form and once in female form. If God adopted male form when He incarnated the second time to do His work, we would forever delimit Him within our notions and imaginings, believing that God could only ever be male, that He only loves men and only acknowledges men, that He doesn’t like women, and that He is the God of men and not of women. Now in the last days, God has incarnated a second time to work in the image of a woman. By doing this, He has launched a huge counterattack against our notions, which enables us to understand that God is not only the God of men, but also of women, and that God does not only love and save men, but loves and saves women in exactly the same way. God is the God of all mankind, and in His eyes, men and women are equal, and neither is favored above the other. At the same time, our erroneous understanding of God is remedied and our attempts to delimit God are expunged. God is not forever male just because He once incarnated in male form; He can freely choose to become male or female according to the needs of His work. This shows us that by adopting different genders in His two incarnations, He both embodies His almightiness, wisdom, wondrousness and righteousness, and also counters our notions about Him. God incarnating in female form in the last days is so incredibly significant!

God’s words

No Matter His Gender, Only God Himself Can Express the Truth

Whether God incarnates in male form or female form, His wisdom is behind it all. God acts according to His will and in whichever way that will benefit man, and we are not qualified to counsel Him this way or that. So when we investigate the true way, then, we cannot go by our notions and delimit God as being only male and unable to incarnate in female form to do His work. Instead, we should focus on looking into whether the words expressed by this flesh possess the truth, and whether they are the voice of God. That is enough for now. Because if it is the incarnate flesh of the Spirit of God, it will surely bring the work God wishes to perform. God says, “Each stage of work done by God has its own practical significance. Back then, when Jesus came, He was male, and when God comes this time, He is female. From this, you can see that God created both male and female for the sake of His work, and with Him there is no distinction of gender. When His Spirit comes, He can take on any flesh He pleases, and that flesh can represent Him; whether male or female, it can represent God as long as it is His incarnate flesh. If Jesus had appeared as a female when He came, in other words, if an infant girl, and not a boy, had been conceived by the Holy Spirit, that stage of work would have been completed all the same. If that had been the case, then the present stage of work would have to be completed by a male instead, but the work would be completed all the same. The work done in either stage is equally significant; neither stage of work is repeated, nor does it conflict with the other. At the time, Jesus, in doing His work, was called the only Son, and ‘Son’ implies the male gender. Why is the only Son not mentioned in this current stage? Because the requirements of the work have necessitated a change in gender from that of Jesus.

God’s words are very clear. Whether God incarnates as a male or a female, His essence is always that of God’s Spirit doing the work of God Himself. The Lord Jesus, for example, appeared and worked in male form, He ended the Age of Law, began the Age of Grace, and expressed truths to redeem mankind. He performed many signs and wonders and was ultimately nailed to the cross, thereby redeeming mankind from Satan’s clutches. It is evident that all the work the Lord Jesus did was divine work, and that He was God Himself. Similarly, Christ of the last days—Almighty God—has appeared and is working in female form, and He has ended the Age of Grace and begun the Age of Kingdom. On the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ redemption work, Almighty God performs the work of judgment beginning in God’s house, He expresses all the truths to cleanse and save mankind, and He uncovers all the mysteries of His management plan to save mankind. Such mysteries include the mystery of His incarnations, the mystery of God’s three stages of work, the mystery of God’s names, as well as the source of mankind’s corruption and the ends and destinations that await us. God also uses words to judge and expose our satanic dispositions of arrogance, conceitedness, selfishness, baseness, wickedness, deceitfulness, and so on, to enable us to know the truth of our own corruption by Satan and the source of our sinfulness and resistance to God. Meanwhile, He also shows us the path to attain full salvation and to be cleansed, so that we may know how to rid ourselves of such satanic dispositions as arrogance and selfishness, become compatible with God, and no longer rebel against Him. What Almighty God expresses is the way of judgment of mankind in the last days. The appearance and work of Almighty God precisely fulfill these biblical prophecies: “When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come(John 16: 13). “He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day(John 12:48). “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God(1 Peter 4:17). By looking at the truths Almighty God expresses and the work He performs, we can see that Almighty God is the Lord Jesus returned, that He is God Himself. We can therefore also ascertain that, whether His gender is male or female, as long as it is flesh worn by the Spirit of God, and as long as He can express the truth and perform the work to save mankind, then His essence is that of God Himself. In other words, God’s Spirit becoming flesh to do His work to save man has absolutely nothing to do with gender. Regardless of whether God’s incarnation is male or female, as long as He is able to express the truth to save people and do the work of God Himself, then He is the flesh of God incarnate—He is Christ. As created beings, therefore, the sense of reason we should possess is such that we should only focus on seeking the truth, and not on whether God’s incarnate flesh is male or female. We should focus on hearing God’s voice, and we need only find that what He expresses is the truth, and be sure that the work He does is the work to save mankind, and then we will have found the appearance of God, and should thereafter accept and submit to Him. Only by doing this will we be counted among the wise.

Almighty God’s work of the last days is now approaching its end. People from every nation all over the world who love the truth and yearn for God to appear have investigated the words and work of Almighty God and become certain that He is the Lord Jesus returned, and one after another, they have returned before God. These are the wise virgins who, because their focus is on hearing God’s voice and seeking the truth, now attend the feast of the Lamb. If we continue to delimit God’s gender as being only male based on our notions and imaginings, and do not focus on seeking and investigating the true way, and we pay no heed to whether Almighty God’s words are God’s voice and whether His work is the work of God Himself, then we will be liable to miss our chance to welcome the Lord!
