Meaning of Psalm 118:5–6: The Lord Is by My Side

Today’s Verse

I called on the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

God created the heavens and earth and all things, and all things and all events are in His hands. So no matter what distress we are in, there’s nothing to be afraid of as long as we pray and rely on God. Especially when we face those who persecute us Christians, no matter how high their power and influence, and status are, they are just tiny creatures in God’s hands. They are unable to decide our destiny. And only God is the Master of our fate. Without God’s permission, not a single string of our hair will be lost. Recalling that Daniel was cast into the lion’s den and that his three friends were thrown into the burning fiery furnace, they all came out safe and sound for God was with them. As long as we rely on God in distress, He will show His authority and power to us, and let us see His deeds. Amen.
