Thoughts on Today's Verse:

We know the Lord Jesus is the Christ in the flesh, and He is the God in heaven who comes down to the earth. Because Christ is the embodiment of God’s Spirit, He possesses a divine essence. God’s almightiness and wisdom, God’s disposition, and God’s possessions and being that God’s Spirit possesses have all been materialized in Christ. Hence, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” And this tells us that God’s essence is the truth, the way, and the life.

Recalling the Age of Grace, Jesus came to earth to express many truths, express a disposition that is mainly mercy and love. He told us the requirements of entering into the kingdom of heaven, and what kind of people He loves. He was crucified to complete God’s work of redeeming all mankind. From Jesus’ words and work, we can know what God is and that God is love and is full of love and mercy for mankind ... It proves that only God can express the truth, and only God is the truth, the way, and the life. Just as one passage said, “To study such a thing is not difficult, but requires each of us to know this truth: He who is God’s incarnation shall hold the substance of God, and He who is God’s incarnation shall hold the expression of God. Since God becomes flesh, He shall bring forth the work He must do, and since God becomes flesh, He shall express what He is, and shall be able to bring the truth to man, bestow life upon man, and show man the way. Flesh that does not contain the substance of God is surely not the incarnate God; of this there is no doubt. To investigate whether it is God’s incarnate flesh, man must determine this from the disposition He expresses and the words He speaks. Which is to say, whether or not it is God’s incarnate flesh, and whether or not it is the true way, must be judged from His substance. And so, in determining whether it is the flesh of God incarnate, the key is to pay attention to His substance (His work, His words, His disposition, and many more), rather than external appearance. If man sees only His external appearance, and overlooks His substance, then that shows the ignorance and naivety of man.”

Therefore, when we understand that the Christ is the truth, the way, and the life, then we won’t believe that all testimonies of Jesus’ second coming are false and condemn the Lord who appears to us. In addition, we won’t fear that we will be deceived by false Christs. Because the false ones are not the truth, the way, or the life, they cannot bring a path of practice but only tell lies to deceive people.
