We live in a world where people are all chasing after wealth and material success. Many individuals strive and compete for things like money, fame, status, and power, believing that possessing these things is the key to happiness and contentment. However, we often overlook an important fact: These material possessions are temporary and cannot fulfill the deep desires of our hearts. We can see that even some who appear to have achieved success, including so-called geniuses and celebrities, still feel a sense of emptiness in their lives despite their accomplishments. They live with anxiety, finding no relief and real meaning, and some even choose to leave this world through suicide as an expression of their dissatisfaction. This is a tragic reality. So, how can we attain true riches and satisfaction? The Bible tells us, “The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). This verse provides us with a clear and simple answer: It is the blessing of the Lord that makes us rich without adding sorrow. Because God is the greatest giver in our lives, He bestows upon us all good things, allowing us to enjoy everything He has created. He requires us to establish an intimate relationship with Him and allows us to ultimately inherit His wonderful promises. God not only provides for our material needs but, more importantly, gives us His precious word. In His word, we find sustenance, the path of life, and eternal life, and freedom from all worries. This is the greatest blessing God offers us, a priceless treasure that brings happiness and contentment to our souls. God says, “Whether the words spoken by God be plain or profound in outward appearance, they are all truths indispensable to man as he enters into life; they are the fount of living waters that enables man to survive in both spirit and flesh. They provide what man needs to stay alive; the principles and creed for conducting his daily life; the path he must take to salvation, as well as its goal and direction; every truth that he should possess as a created being before God; and every truth about how man obeys and worships God. They are the guarantee that ensures man’s survival, they are man’s daily bread, and they are also the sturdy support that enables man to be strong and stand up. They are rich in the truth reality with which created mankind lives out normal humanity, rich in the truth by which mankind breaks free from corruption and eludes Satan’s snares, rich in the tireless teaching, exhortation, encouragement, and solace that the Creator gives to created humanity. They are the beacon that guides and enlightens men to understand all that is positive, the guarantee which ensures that men will live out and come into possession of all that is righteous and good, the criterion by which all people, events, and objects are measured, and also the navigation marker that leads men toward salvation and the path of light.” We can survive, have confidence, break free from sin and emptiness, experience salvation, live a meaningful life, and effectively address life’s challenges and difficulties—All of these are the effects of God’s word on people. Therefore, obtaining God’s word, which is synonymous with acquiring truth, brings us great blessings from God. It allows our hearts to feel genuine happiness and contentment, and this is the true riches.
