Mark 11:24 - Prayer of Faith

In life, no matter what challenges and hardships we encounter, as long as we maintain our faith in and reliance on God, and earnestly pray to Him, we can receive His help and navigate through the difficulties we face. Read this essay to learn how to make prayers of faith, providing you with the opportunity to receive God’s help.

The Lord Jesus said, “Therefore I say to you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them” (Mark 11:24). This verse illustrates how the Lord Jesus, after cleansing the temple, used the incident of cursing a fig tree to teach His disciples about the importance of faith and the strength of prayer. It also reminds us to maintain unwavering faith and reliance on God, encourages us to persevere in prayer and await God’s response with steadfast confidence. Throughout the Bible, there are numerous examples of prayers answered through faith. For instance, when the Israelites besieged Jericho, their faith-filled prayers and the procession around the city for seven days led to the walls of Jericho collapsing. Elijah’s fervent prayer for no rain resulted in a three-and-a-half-year drought. Daniel, when falsely accused and thrown into the lion’s den, prayed to God in faith, and God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, and Daniel remained unharmed. These examples vividly illustrate the remarkable power of faith and prayer.

In our lives, which are filled with various challenges and difficulties in this noisy world, prayer with faith in God can serve as a source of strength, helping us overcome the hardships of life. However, prayer of faith is not a hollow ritual, nor is it an irrational demand on God, and it certainly isn’t an attempt to test God’s abilities. Rather, it is sincere communication with God, a genuine reliance on and submission to Him. Having faith in God isn’t blind self-assurance; it’s trust and reverence that arise from a true understanding of God. So, how can we make prayers of faith? God says, “Prayer is not a type of ritual. It is true communion between a person and God, and it has profound significance. From people’s prayers, one can see that they are directly serving God. If you view prayer as a ritual, your prayer will be ineffective, and it will not be a real prayer because you do not speak your inner feelings to God or open your heart to Him. So far as God is concerned, your prayer does not count. You do not exist in the heart of God. How will the Holy Spirit work in you then?” “When praying, you must have a heart that is quiet before God, and you must have a sincere heart. You are truly communing and praying with God—you must not try to wheedle God with nice-sounding words. Prayer should center upon that which God wishes to accomplish right now. Ask God to grant you greater enlightenment and illumination, bring your actual states and your troubles into His presence when you pray, including the resolution that you made before God. Prayer is not about following procedure; it is about seeking God with a sincere heart. Ask that God protect your heart, so that your heart may often be quiet before Him; that in the environment in which He has placed you, you would know yourself, despise yourself, and forsake yourself, thus allowing you to have a normal relationship with God and truly become someone who loves God.

God’s word provides us with the precise path to receiving responses to our prayers. If we follow this path faithfully, it is for sure that our prayers will also be heard by God.
