What Is the “Hidden Manna” in the Book of Revelation?
The word “manna,” I believe, is familiar to every brother and sister in the Lord, as it is recorded in the Old Testament that, after Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, they stayed in the wilderness for forty years, during which time God sent manna from heaven to feed them every day. At that time, the manna bestowed by God was the material food, which the Israelites needed most to survive in those days.
It’s recorded in the Bible: “To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna” (Revelation 2:17). Here it mentions “ hidden manna.” Then what does the “hidden manna” refer to? Let’s look at several passages of scriptures.
“And He humbled you, and suffered you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that He might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Jehovah does man live” (Deuteronomy 8:3). “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). “I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven” (John 6:48–51). From God’s words, we can know that we humans live not only by the material manna, but even more by God’s words. God’s words are the bread of life and our spiritual manna. So, manna not only refers to one type of material food but also to God’s words. We all know that the words of thewere bestowed upon mankind and were made known two thousand years ago, so the Lord Jesus’ words are not the “hidden manna.”
The Book of Revelation clearly prophesied, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna” (Revelation 2:17). In John 16:12–13, where the Lord Jesus said: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.” These prophecies tell us that when the Lord returns in, He will speak again, bestow upon us mankind more truths and tell us all of the mysteries we don’t know as well as the things to come. These words are the “hidden manna” mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
Therefore, if we are able to find what the Holy Spirit says to all churches, that is, the utterances of the Holy Spirit, we will obtain the hidden manna. Now, only The Church of Almighty God is openly testifying that the Lord Jesus has returned, and that He has spoken words to do the judgment work beginning with the house of God (See 1 Peter 4:17). Those who trulyand thirst for God’s words all actively seek and investigate, and one by one come before Almighty God after hearing that Almighty God’s words have authority and power. Such people are the who have been raptured before God’s throne and attended the wedding feast of the Lamb. This completely fulfills the prophecy in the Book of Revelation: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). This also fulfills these words of Almighty God: “My voice shall spread throughout the earth; I wish, facing My chosen people, to speak more words to them. Like the mighty thunders that shake the mountains and rivers, I speak My words to the whole universe and to mankind. … Let all come before My throne and see My glorious countenance, hear My voice, and look upon My deeds. This is the entirety of My will; it is the end and the climax of My plan, as well as the purpose of My management. Let every nation worship Me, every tongue acknowledge Me, every man repose his faith in Me, and every people be subject unto Me!”
